Georgian Window Styles

Classic Georgian windows have bars running across the frame and vertically to create multiple glass panes. They were developed at this time because glass was expensive and the window tax was only reduced towards the end of the Georgian period.

At Evolution we offer two sizes of Georgian astragal bars; the 20mm Ovolo bar, and 36mm Cottage style bar. There is a putty finish bar to the exterior of the window and an Ovolo bar to the inside of the window.

Storm Georgian Windows

Every aspect of our Storm Georgian window is meticulously designed to authentically emulate traditional Georgian timber windows. Flush Georgian Windows

Flush Georgian windows are a timeless, elegant window solution, characterised by sleek window lines that fit flush into the window frame, unlike Storm windows that overlap in the frame. This gives the Flush window a simple and elegant aesthetic.

These virtually maintenance–free Georgian windows have been developed based on authentic, traditional design and are very popular in period homes and cottages, however we are seeing increasing demand for their use in contemporary new homes and minimalist conversion properties due to their clean, sharp lines.

As with our Storm windows, our Flush Georgian windows can also be upgraded to incorporate triple glazing, or to feature our innovative acoustic glass. If you want modern features, yet either need or want a timber-look flush Georgian window, then our modern alternative could be the solution for you.

Georgian Astragal Bars

Our windows achieve their Georgian look through the use of astragal bars. These are decorative bars that are applied to the surface of the window once the window pane is mounted in to the frame. This most closely resembles the traditional Georgian windows that these modern interpretations are based on.

It is important to note that our Georgian bars are not only positioned between the two panes of glass but are positioned on the surface of the window, both inside and out. This is known as an astragal bar in the fenestration industry and they really help set our Georgian windows apart from others.
