The New English Door Company Front Door. Looks like Wood. Performs Like Evolution
Last month at the Homebuilding & Renovating Show in London, visitors gathered around our stand to see something quite special; the launch of our enhanced timber-look front door by the English Door Company
Based on our ultra-successful Nash Door Design, we’ve made substantial enhancements, giving you a door that doesn’t just look more like timber. It feels like it too. Yet, beneath the surface, it’s made from the same advanced modern materials our front doors are known for.
These enhancements took everyone by surprise. Many were convinced it was really wood — proof of how far Evolution has taken the art of creating timber-look windows and doors. We invented the timber-alternative category, and our new improvements prove once again why we lead this market segment and our doors are asked for by name.
Designed to Look and Feel Like Real Timber
Every part of this new design replicates the craftsmanship and depth of a traditional timber door.
The 82mm outer frame gives a substantial presence and internal depth that mirrors the proportions of real wood joinery.
The flush finish moulded internal detail, and authentic timber-look joints have been meticulously engineered to give the same texture and appearance as solid timber — without the maintenance that comes with it.

The Timber Look Joint
As with all Evolution Windows and doors the joints have to look like fine timber craftsmanship and our new door is no exception.
We have created what we know to be the most timber-like door and frame joint detail of any comparable market on the product. The attention to detail and flawless quality is second to none.

Timber-look finish
Unlike the flat panels seen on most uPVC doors, ours feature raised and fielded designs identical to those on a handcrafted timber door.
The subtle contours catch the light naturally, giving a tactile quality that looks and feels genuine. Every detail contributes to the impression of painted or stained timber — but this is a premium engineered uPVC door built to perform for decades.

The Aluminium Midrail — Strength Where It Matters
At the heart of this design lies one of its most important differences: a midrail made from aluminium rather than uPVC.
This section of the door takes the greatest load and stress, so we engineered it in metal for lasting rigidity and superior fixing strength. The 190mm midrail not only mirrors the proportions of a true timber design but also delivers the reassuring solidity and weighted feel that defines quality joinery.
This design decision is about more than appearance — it’s about longevity, precision, and security. You can feel it every time the door closes.

Deep Bottom Rail — Proportion Perfected
Proportion is everything when recreating the look of a classic timber door.
The deeper bottom rail gives visual balance, authenticity, and the correct stance of a traditional wood design. T ogether with the aluminium midrail and raised panels, the overall composition is visually indistinguishable from a handcrafted wooden door.

Hardware with Architectural Quality
Finishing touches matter. That is why we’ve included architectural quality stainless-steel flush letterbox, classic doctor’s knocker, and townhouse escutcheon. These bring a touch of tactile luxury, refinement and timeless appeal.
These aren’t imitations — they’re carefully chosen ultra-premium hardware that must look and feel right in the hand. Every element reinforces the sense of craftsmanship that defines an English Door Company product.

Built for Modern Living
Behind the traditional styling lies cutting-edge performance.
The door features a wheelchair-compliant Part M threshold, ensuring smooth access and full compliance with current Building Regulations. The multi-point locking system engages automatically when closed, providing outstanding security and peace of mind.
Personalisation options include etched or numbered glazing above the door — another bespoke touch that makes every door unique.
