Rococo were approached by the owners of this beautiful period property in Romsey to design and build a suitable orangery. The idea was that it would provide a more comfortable and functional space in its lounge for general comfort and entertaining guests. Importantly though, it not only had to be practical, stylish and light, but had to fit in with the rest of the decor so that it felt like a natural extension of the home and room itself.
Rococo have orangery solutions that meet the local building regulations, so we were able to start almost immediately. They began by knocking down the rear wall and knocking through to the existing lounge. Rococo's builders then started to create the extra space by building out from the back of the property.
As it was important that the extension or orangery did not alter the energy efficiency of the home, they added insulation around the atrium roof, in the walls and base of the new section. The brick pillars and central lantern, provided by a third party, in the internal atrium were to help the property feel like a true extension and not a garden room or conservatory that had just been unsympathetically added on.
For the windows in the new living space, Rococo used Clarity windows with a glazing bar and aesthetically pleasing chrome standard handles. These windows are high quality timber-effect solutions that provide a low maintenance alternative to natural wood products. They also benefit from thermal and sound insulation properties. The doors in the new orangery were also from the Clarity range.
