This recently transformed terraced home in Gloucestershire shows how timber-look flush casement windows can completely change the look of a property with just a simple window and door replacement. These Evolution flush windows add a significant amount of character compared to the previous wood windows. Our Evolution Partner, L and L Installations, a long established and Which? Trusted Trader in their area had a specific brief and that was the colour.
In this case the homeowner had specially mixed and sprayed herself. This was then sent to us to coat in our specialist Paint Workshop. Closest in tone to Olive Grey RAL 7032, the final finish is slightly darker. It is more subtle, refined, and perfectly suited to the property. The result is outstanding and an excellent choice by the homeowner.
The expertise of L and L Installations as a long-established Evolution installer was also called upon to get the windows looking as cottage style as possible. The homeowner specifically requested that the new windows retain a cottage-style appearance, in keeping with the character of the property. Georgian glazing bars are included across all windows for added period-style charm, and each frame is manufactured with Evolution's signature timber-style mechanical joints and deep cills.
Part of the renovation also included removing the original garage and converting this into a habitable room. Overall, this charming Gloucestershire home has undergone a full upgrade—both visually and functionally. This colour now provides a soft contrast against the white render, giving the home a more refined and cohesive appearance. Every original timber window has been removed and replaced with Evolution's timber-look flush casement windows.
To the rear of the home and at the front ground floor, larger multi-module window designs have been used, providing increased light and more expansive views to the garden and driveway. Despite their size, the windows retain the symmetry and classic proportions of traditional timber windows. Internally, the styling continues with black monkey tail handles and peg stays, enhancing the traditional aesthetic and contributing to the authentic look and feel of the installation.
As with all Evolution products, the windows include multipoint locking as standard, high-performance double glazing with soft-coat low-emissivity glass, argon gas-filled sealed units and warm-edge spacer bars for thermal efficiency, internally glazed for added security, and hidden trickle ventilators for discreet background airflow.
The entrance door was replaced with a new model from The English Door Company. Chosen in the Shillington design, the door replicates the appearance of a stable door but is manufactured as a single secure front door without the stable split functionality. This provides visual interest and kerb appeal, without compromising on thermal insulation or safety. Matching the same bespoke RAL finish as the windows, the door includes Georgian-style glazing to the top section.
The before-and-after comparison on this project highlights just how much of an impact bespoke flush casement timber-look windows can make. The replacement of the brown timber frames, the conversion of the garage, and the introduction of consistent, architecturally appropriate detailing has completely changed the appearance front and back. The house now looks bigger, wider, brighter and far more welcoming, with the added benefit of Evolution's trusted security, enhanced insulation and long-term promise of reliability.
