An installation of our best-selling Evolution flush casement windows to a fully refurbished and extended semi-detached home in Slough Berkshire, fitted by our premier installation Partner, Thames Valley Window Company.
With the property having undergone a carefully planned renovation inside and out, it benefitted from a substantial side garden. As a result, the location and side space was ideal to receive planning permission for a front to back side extension and the creation of an additional bedroom in the roof.
The owners were keen to restore the character of the original 1930s build while also improving thermal performance and updating the home’s usability and appearance.
To achieve this, the entire property has been fitted with Evolution’s flush casement windows—finished in white woodgrain both inside and out and manufactured with our signature timber-look detailing. With new additions to the front and rear, the home now features a consistent window style across both the original and extended parts of the building.
Flush Casement Windows in Berkshire - A Consistent Timber-Look Design with Modern Performance
The glazing layout uses a combination of single, double, triple, and quadruple-module flush windows. Every window is manufactured using Evolution’s timber-style mechanical joints, equal glass proportions, and matching timber-look cills. All these signature features of our flush window collection, create balanced and symmetrical window designs with equal glass sizes.
At the front, the original bay window has been retained and upgraded with a new flush bay window. Upstairs in the front bedroom is a new triple-module flush window. The front new windows within the extension have a combination of triple and quadruple windows, each with sashes to the sides and fixed panes in between.
All windows are carefully designed to work in harmony with the surrounding houses, which share the same 1930s architectural design and some similarly extended and modified.
The benefits of Evolution Timber-Alternative Windows.
Every Evolution Window is crafted to replicate original wood windows as closely as possible and these flush windows in Berkshire are no exception. Hidden trickle vents have been neatly integrated into the head of each frame, allowing ventilation without disrupting the clean lines of the window design and meeting Part F of Building Regulations.
To reinforce the heritage appearance, a single horizontal glazing bar is fitted to all front-facing windows. The result is a façade that now looks as it would have done when originally built, with the benefits of improved security, insulation and interior comfort with reduced window maintenance.
Rear Elevation and Door Upgrades with Evolution Windows and Doors.
At the rear of the property, the layout shifts toward a more contemporary aesthetic. To complement the newly installed aluminium sliding doors, all rear-facing flush casements are full-height glazed with no glazing bars. This allows maximum light into the extended rear living space and aligns with the clean, minimal appearance of the new patio doors.
A new half-glass, half-solid panel back door is also fitted to the newly installed kitchen area and has a flag window design joining the door. Like the windows, this door is finished in white woodgrain and fitted with high-specification safety glass and internal security beading.
Classic Entrance Door with Matching Detailing
Completing the upgrade at the front is a new entrance door from Evolution’s timber-look range. Styled to replicate a classic 1930s design, the door includes six top glazed panels in obscure safety glass, finished with silver hardware including a town centre escutcheon, flush letterplate, and traditional-style handle. A low threshold provides easier access, making the door practical as well as period-appropriate.
Advanced Glazing as Standard
All windows and doors used in this project are glazed with Evolution’s high-performance double-glazed units. These include:
- Soft-coat low-emissivity glass for improved thermal insulation
- Argon gas-filled sealed units for energy efficiency
- Warm-edge spacer bars to reduce cold bridging
- Internally glazed units for added security
While these performance upgrades are subtle, they significantly enhance the comfort, security, and energy efficiency of the property—without altering its original charm.
Windows come with multipoint locking and contemporary colour-matched handles with key locking for added peace of mind.
