Should I Install Double Or Triple Glazing?

triple glazing

Energy bills are rising and concerns about our carbon footprints are increasing. With this in mind, if you’re planning to replace your existing windows you may be wondering whether to opt for standard double glazing, or whether to invest in triple glazed windows instead. Here, we take a closer look at both options so you can decide which is right for you.

Double Glazing And Triple Glazing – Helping To Prevent Heat Loss

On average, most properties lose around ten percent of their retained heat through doors and windows, but both double and triple glazing can help to prevent this. As a result, both types of window and door can help to reduce your energy consumption while making your home a warmer and more comfortable place to live.

However, as you might imagine, triple glazing is more energy efficient than double glazing. Triple glazing keeps your home even warmer, reduces your heating bills even more and reduce heat loss from inside your property thanks to their A+ energy rating. Triple glazed windows are around 40% more thermally efficient when compared to C-rated aluminium double glazed windows.

They are 15% more thermally efficient even when compared with A-rated double glazed windows. Therefore, if you want to make maximum savings and enjoy a warmer indoor environment, it makes sense to choose triple glazing over double glazing.

Reduced Noise

For anyone living close to major roads, under flight paths, near loud wildlife or close to schools and playgrounds, finding an effective way to block out excess noise from your home couldn’t be more important. Double glazed windows are relatively effective at preventing noise pollution, however if you’re looking for the ultimate way to get a better night’s quiet sleep, you should opt for triple glazed windows.

Thanks to their two spaces filled with argon gas around the additional glass pane, they offer an even better level of insulation. Evolution also couple this insulation with a high-performing Warm Edge spacer so that external noise can be dramatically reduced when you choose triple glazing.

Colours And Styles

Windows come in a wide range of colours and styles when you buy from Evolution. While the standard colour for inside your windows is white wood grain, it’s possible to opt for a painted finish or a natural timber look instead.

Not only can we offer you a range of classic paint and timber finishes, you can also choose from more than 200 different RAL colours for your windows thanks to our cutting-edge in-house colouring facility. Even better, our custom-painted windows retain an authentic-looking woodgrain detail so they still feel and look like real wood.

These options are available for both our double glazed and triple glazed windows, however there is one thing to note – if you’re looking for Georgian bars for your windows, you will need to choose double glazing, as triple glazed windows aren’t available with this feature.

Contact our approved installers today to learn more about both our double and triple glazed windows and get all the help you need to make the right choice for your home.
